Praying for the sick should be just as normal as praying for salvation since both are received the same way…by faith. We know God hears us and grants our petitions when we pray in Jesus’ name (John 16:23-24) and according to God’s will, which is His Word. (1st John 5:14-15). The one praying must pray with the right motives, (1st John 3:21-22, James 4:2) from a heart of Love and not self-glorification. God always gets all the glory! Since faith works by love (Galatians 5:6) and faith comes by hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17), it is important to lay a good foundation for the one being prayed for so that they have something to hang their faith on. Both the one praying and the one being prayed for must be in agreement (Matthew 18:19) so it must be determined:
- What the person wants to receive from God (Mark 10:51)
- Do they believe God can do what they are asking? (Luke 1:37)
- Do they believe God will do it for them? (1st John 3:21-22) They also must not doubt, but believe in order to receive! (James 1:6-7)
Cliff —
I have been praying for the sick and casting out devils since 1986, when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit and learned that I had the authority to heal the sick. Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.”
If you are sick, you are oppressed by the devil. God doesn’t put sickness on anyone. The devil does. He likes to lie to us and try to get us to believe that my condition, my medical problem, my sickness came from God. People tend to accept their condition, if they believe that their problem came from God. Maybe God sent this sickness to teach me a lesson? Maybe to pay for my sins. These kinds of thoughts come into our minds. The evil spirits sent by the devil send evil thoughts to our minds all of the time. This scripture says that Jesus went about doing good and healing. Healing us is God’s will. Exodus 15:26 says: “I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Jeremiah 30:17 says” For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thy wounds,” saith the Lord.
Now why I am sharing scriptures about healing? I have to get you to believe that it is God’s will to heal you in your heart, not your head. You are a spirit, like God, your Father. You have a soul, which is your mind, intellect and emotions. You live in a body. God formed Adam from the dust or dirt of the earth and he blew of His Spirit into Adam and Adam became a living spirit, son of God, made in His image. He was God of this world. He had one point of obedience, he could not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that was in the center of the garden of Eden because if he did, he would surely die. Life was good. Nothing ever died. No sickness. No work. No thorns or thistles. God came and walked with Adam in the cool of the evening. Adam was in complete fellowship with God. Life was perfect. Later God put Adam to sleep and he took out a rib and he made the first woman and he gave her to Adam for a helpmate and companion and to give them a way to fill the earth with people. Or as scripture says, to replenish the earth, which means that it was full once before. That’s another whole teaching that I am mentioning but I won’t go deep into that here.
The serpent was in the garden and he deceived Eve. Basically, he said that God is holding out on you. If you eat the fruit, you will become like God knowing all things. She ate and then she gave the fruit to Adam and he ate. They died spiritually then and their spiritual connection to God was broken.
What does this have to do with healing? Everything!!! This is why Jesus had to come. To break the curse off of everyone and restore us to fellowship with God.
Genesis Chapter 3 explains it all. First: The serpent will crawl on his belly and he will eat dust. Second: The woman will love her man and she will have pain in childbirth. Her seed will crush the authority of the serpent. Jesus is her seed and he crushed the authority of the devil, who became god of this world, when Adam, who was god of this world until he committed high treason against Almighty God, when he ate the fruit that he was ordered not to eat. Third: Death entered the world when Adam sinned. The earth became cursed. Thorns and weeds grow in abundance. Adam would have to work and by the sweat of his brow, if he would eat. God said, “Dust you are and to dust you will return.”
God told the serpent/devil that you will eat dust all the days of your life. Then he told Adam, you are the dust. The natural man is the breakfast, lunch and dinner for the devil. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
So we can see here why this world has evil in it and yet God has prepared a way for us to escape the corruption and evil here. God had a plan to buy us back from the devil. It took many years for God’s perfect plan to come to fruition. He used Abraham, Issaac and Jacob, whose name he changed to Israel. He led them to Egypt, where they became a mighty nation. Then God led them out of Egypt by Moses with many signs, wonders and miracles. God gave them the law through Moses. It is God’s perfect standard of behavior. No one has been able to keep it. Jesus is the only one who perfectly kept the law, which made him a perfect sinless sacrifice. With which, God purchased all of humanity back from the devil. Jesus took the keys to death, hell and the grave. Satan is and was completely defeated. He can only do what God allows him to do. This life is a test to see who we are going to serve, God or ourselves and the devil. The people who don’t know God yet, are living in darkness under the control of the devil. We, as children of God are called to carry the Good News that God loves us all and that when we were enemies of God, God sent His son, Jesus to die on that cross and paid the price for everyone’s sins. When we repent of our sins, give our lives to God, confess Jesus of Nazareth as our Lord and Savior and we believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we become born again. Then the Spirit of God comes and lives in us and we become children of God. We become a tabernacle of the Almighty God, the creator of the heavens and the earth. God is living inside of us and He is one Spirit with us, forever.
What does this have to do with healing? Everything!!! What I have described here is just basic Bible truth. It explains your purpose, God’s plan to restore His children back into fellowship with Himself. God wants to enjoy us being with him for all of eternity. If I have time to teach for a while, before I pray for the sick, I will share these and other things about the goodness of God, the patience of God, the unlimited ability of God, the love of God, that He is a faith God, the judgements of God are just and perfect, etc., etc.
When I pray for you or anyone else prays for you, you must use your faith to receive your healing and deliverance. Your unbelief will not get you healed. It won’t get you saved either. Unbelief will separate you from the God who has redeemed you. I give scriptures with promises from God. Many times the Word of God says that if you do this, then I (God) will do that. God tells us what we must do to receive blessings from Him.
Let’s jump in here with Isaiah 53. The whole chapter is a prophetic picture of Jesus and all that he would suffer to save and heal us. It was written about 400 to 700 years before Jesus was born. Let’s read verse 4: Surely he has borne our griefs (sicknesses) and carried our sorrows (pains); yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Verse 5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes we are healed. Verse 6: We all like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity us all.
Verse 5 says, with his stripes “we are healed.” This is present tense. “Now.” We live and have our being in the present tense. When Moses spoke to God in the burning bush that was not burned, he asked, “What is your name?” God said, “I am that I am.” Meaning that I am the now God. When can God heal you? “Now,” if you can believe for it. Let talk about those stripes. 39 lashes was the maximum allowed under Jewish law. Jesus took that punishment for us to heal us and save us. Don’t you think that God or Jesus Christ wants to heal you after all of the suffering that he went through to buy our healing for us with His life and His blood. That thought, that God doesn’t want to heal me, is just a lie from the pit of hell to rob you of your healing.
Now let’s go to 1st Peter 2:24, “Who in his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed.” Now if the Word of God says that I was healed, past tense. Why am I sick? There are lots of reasons. Let me explain this. 1st: You have to ask to be healed. The Word says, “That you have not because you ask not.” You must ask. God gave you a free will. I have found people who rejected their healing because they would lose their disability check. You are responsible for the choices that you make in this life. Thank God, that I learned how to ask for forgiveness and I apply the blood of Jesus to remove my guilt and responsibility for all of the poor decisions that I have made. 2nd Another important scripture is Hosea 4:6 “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” These are God’s people and they are destroyed for their ignorance. The Word of God is full of the wisdom of God. It explains what God has done for us and what He will do for us. Kenneth E. Hagin said, “I can teach you in 10 minutes what it took me 30 to 40 years to learn. Read books and booklets from powerful, anointed men and women of God, like Kenneth E. Hagin, Oral Roberts, T. L. Osborne, Norvel Hayes, Kenneth Copeland, E. W. Kenyon, Andrew Wommack, Gary Keesee, Charles and Francis Hunter, Smith Wigglesworth, etc. You must become a student of the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to your spirit what the real revelation is of the Word that I am reading now. 3rd God is not a liar. That means that he is not like us, to promise to do something and then not do it. Titus 1:2 …in the hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; Hebrews 6:10 -20 You should read these verses because they flow so well together. Verse 18 says: …”in which it is impossible for God to lie, ….” Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man, that He should repent; hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Verse 20: “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and He hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” The Word of God teaches that in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses, every word is confirmed. So here are 3 scriptures that say that “God is not a Liar.” We can trust God. God is able and was able to get His Word written down correctly. We need to be sure that we have a good translation to use unless you want to learn Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew to study the Bible in the original languages that it was written in.
Jeremiah Chapter 1. You should read all of chapter 1, but for this lesson, verse 12 applies to healing and other prayers. Verse12: Then the Lord said to me, “Thou hast well seen, for I will hasten my Word to perform it.” This scripture calls out to me. I see God sitting at attention on the edge of his throne, so that He can respond immediately to anyone crazy enough to believe His written promises and pray according to His will and His Word. God is seeing, hearing and feeling everything that is happening to all of the people in this world, 8 billion of us, in real time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and He doesn’t get tired of making miracles happen to us and for us. Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
What I do, I do in partnership with the creator of the universe, one of his names is the God of Israel. I go forth into the spirit world, I call forth things that be not as though they were. I call forth new knees, I call forth new hearts, I cast out a spirit of diabetes and I speak forth a new pancreas that works perfectly and that God Himself will make all of the adjustments necessary. I teach, I share scriptures and promises that apply to their needs, I speak, I lay on hands, I anoint with oil, preferably olive oil. I cast out devils or demons, evil spirits that put sickness on them and I relax and watch God do all of the work. When you know what you are doing, it is just so easy.
Last Sunday night, I ministered in a small Assembly of God church not that far from my house. I was there about 2 months ago and the Lord healed almost everyone there. Last Sunday was very similar. The outstanding healing to me was a young lady who could not hear or speak. I sat next to her during the praise and worship. She let me know with hand signals that she couldn’t hear or speak. About 8 or 10 people came before she did to be healed. I sat on the step of the platform and the people being prayed for sat in a chair beside the platform. Everybody could see everything. Many people were in pain before I prayed for them and they were pain free after I prayed for them. Sometimes they would have about 10% of the pain still hanging around but I always check and I command all of the pain to go and it leaves.
I cast the deaf and dumb spirit out of this girl. I put my fingers in her ears and I commanded them to be open with every new part of her ears that she needed to hear properly. Then I touched her lips with my finger and I commanded that she be given the ability to speak. I was snapping my fingers on both side of her head and she was smiling and letting us know that she could hear. She started making sounds and words after I prayed for her to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and to start speaking in tongues. It was precious. Everyone was amazed. Wrapping up the service, the pastor said that I definitely have the gift of healing. He is right, I do. I sought it in prayer for about 3 days in 1986, when I learned that we can pray for the sick and see them healed. In 38 years, I have seen the Lord heal several thousand people. In the last few years, I am seeing my success rate approaching 100% on healings, I am definitely running around 100% on casting devils out. God is going to use His Holy Remnant Church full of a bunch of unknown individuals as we turn this world upside down for God and we will shake it and shake it. We will carry the love and light and the radiance of the Lord manifested on our person. Thank You, Lord Jesus!!
